Day 8 - Greenacres Community
For Day 8, adventurers were invited to consider what community is and reflect on the benefits of coming together. With fire pits to chat around, the importance of engaging with others face to face, taking exercise regularly and finding ways to deal with worries were addressed. Why not write your own worries down and let the 'Worry Monster' deal with them? We had the opportunity to share or let go of our concerns. Thank you Greenacres for your welcome at the Greenacres Arms!

Day 9 - Oxted Library
Libraries are great for community groups and today Oxted Library invited adventurers to become part of its community by reading and responding to a book called the 'Selfie Contest'. Rosie Greening's Christmas themed book highlights the importance of working together; and in the end, all of the team take a final 'selfie' together. After reading the story, adventurers could make their own selfie props and take a picture as part of the Oxted Library community.

Day 10 - Roxted at Ellice Road
Music is a great way to bring people together - no matter the weather. With Glasto-type rain and a chilly wind, the lyrics of '2,000 miles' seemed very apt. Perhaps the most fitting song performed by Roxted was a reworking of a classic - which became 'I predict a diet!' Hopefully we shall be able to upload some videos here soon for those adventurers who couldn't get out. Meanwhile, special brownie points to those who braved the weather and extra 'scout points' for the loan of the gazebo.

Day 11 - Oxted Community Choir
The Oxted Community Hall (OCH) is a wonderful place for people to come together and follow all sorts of pursuits, learn new things, help each other, and celebrate. Tonight, the angelic voices of the Oxted Community Choir gave it an additional dimension. Singing is said to be good for the soul, so why not join in? It was certainly lovely for the audience to hear the beautiful Christmas Carols being sung with glorious St. Mary's and the moon as the backdrop.

Day 12 - Oxted Scouts
Tonight’s adventure told the story of the Polar Express. “Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can’t see”. The film was projected onto a big screen while, looking through the window, a real polar express had been created by Woody and Henry. A roaring fire helped us warm our toes and roast marshmallows.

Day 13 - Silkham Road Feast
One of the best ways to come together is over food! Adventurers were welcome to sit at the feasting table to chat and enjoy the food and company. In a scene that had hints of the last supper, we shared bread and mulled wine; but were also then challenged by something perplexing at the table... A Christmas-themed quiz. Can you work out the fiendish clues to the 'Christmas Rephrase It' quiz? See the pictures. We will post the answers later!

Day 14 - The Rectory
What greater adventure must the wise men have had than to travel across foreign lands to kneel before the King of Kings? They must have been expecting to find Jesus in a Palace instead of a 'garage'! People came together from all of society - from the lowest in social status such as the shepherds to the highest. It is a good message to us all that all are welcomed by God! The Rectory was the venue for our Advent reflection today and in fact we were blessed to have our own wise men - St. Mary's rectors old, current and future - all in attendance to share the Advent message. Come together to bow down before the 'Prince of Peace'.
